Wicklow Autumn Photography Tour - Waterfalls, Rivers and Lakes

Wicklow in Autumn - Valleys, Waterfalls and Lakes - Ireland Outdoor Photography Workshops and Tours by Adrian Hendroff
"The trees are in their autumn beauty
The woodland paths are dry,
Under the October twilight the water
Mirrors a still sky"

- William Butler Yeats

We invite you to join us on this memorable autumn one-day photography tour to some of Wicklow's most colourful spots and hidden gems!

Mid-October to mid-November is an ideal time of the year to explore Wicklow's forests and valleys for some excellent photography opportunities. During this time, its busy summer spots see fewer visitors, there's a bit of a bite in the air and something uniquely special about the quality of light that you won't find at any other time of the year. The sunrise and sunset hours are more manageable and you'll also often find moody clouds and longer shadows. During its peak, there will be an explosion of colour as the deciduous leaves that make up its woodlands turn a rich gold, brown, orange and yellows. Mist is also not uncommon as well as beautiful reflections on the lake on calm days. You might get a chance to see the rivers and waterfalls in full flow, while fallen leaves add plenty of colour to the woodland floor.

At this photography tour we will focus on Wicklow's valleys, waterfalls and lakes. We'll aim to take you around Glenmalure, Glendalough and its surrounds. In addition to being guided to some amazing photo-locations, you'll also get expert photography tips from Adrian Hendroff - this includes composition, exposure settings and the use of filters.

Logistics
This one-day outdoor photography tour is limited to 6 places only. It does not include transport, so you will have to arrive and depart in your own car. During the tour, we might car-pool over short distances if everyone agrees.

Who Will This Photo Tour Suit
  • Anyone with average fitness. Expect to walk no more than 30 minutes (and most of the time less) at each location. Some locations are also not far from the parking spot.
  • Nothing advanced, anyone with a basic understanding of shooting with aperture, shutter speed and ISO. If you don't, do not worry as we will show you, including all the best practices along the way!
  • Anyone who wants to improve their planning and composition skills, mastering the light, shooting angles and experimenting with different focal lengths and filters. You will learn to shoot what Adrian Hendroff sees.

What You Need To Bring
You will need to bring a DSLR (Full-frame or Crop sensor)/Mirrorless camera, a selection of lenses with a range of focal lengths from wide-angle to telephoto, tripod, polariser and any ND or graduated filters that you have. Bring also a remote trigger (if you have one), spare batteries, spare memory card and your camera manual (just in case). Use a pair of good trail running or 2-3 season walking boots.
