Astrophotography Zoom Workshop Ireland - Beginners | Fabulous Viewpoints | Outdoor Photography Tours by Adrian Hendroff
Have you always wanted to learn how to photograph the Milky Way and star-trails? Then this Astrophotography Zoom Workshop for Beginners is the one for you.

The night sky has always fascinated mankind through the ages. On a clear night and away from light pollution, you will see a few thousand stars with your naked eye. Counting them is like trying to count the grains of sand on a beach. It is estimated there are 100 to 400 billion stars in our Milky Way galaxy alone. Thanks to modern camera technology, it is now possible to photograph in the night sky beyond what our eyes can see.

This Astrophotography Workshop consists of TWO live sessions done remotely via Zoom - you may opt to do one or both sessions. You will save €60 if you sign up for both sessions.

In SESSION ONE you will learn:
  • The gear needed for photographing the Milky way and star-trails including suitable lenses, intervalometer, headtorch, filters and other accessories.
  • How to effectively plan your milky way and star-trails shots including how to forecast the weather with a high degree of confidence so you nail your shot.
  • The camera settings needed for photographing the milky way and star-trails including how to effectively set the white balance and tips on how to capture sufficient detail in both the sky and foreground using techniques without resorting to light-painting or artificial lighting.
  • The in-camera techniques to come away with the best quality RAW files while out shooting in the field.

In SESSION TWO you will learn:
  • How to plan, forecast and settings needed to shoot the aurora borealis.
  • Our unique and semi-automated post-processing workflow to make your final Astro images the best they can be (see the image above which illustrates a 'before' and 'after'). We consider this to be the most important step after mastering the shooting technique in the field.
  • The flow includes a demo of stacking, blending and star reduction techniques.

After the workshop, you will be sent the Zoom recording to go through as often as you like and (if you do SESSION TWO) all relevant Lightroom presets discussed in the Astro workflow.
